JUNIOR CHURCH

Children’s Programme

For Children in Pre-school to Primary 7

At St. Andrew Blackadder we talk about what it means to follow Jesus in a fun and creative way through videos, music, Bible reading, crafts and games.

We all join the 10:30 family service and after the Children’s Talk, the children and leaders go down into the Chapel and surrounding rooms for our own time together.

We break into two groups downstairs –

KLASH (Kids Learning About Something Holy)

Pre-school to P4 - meets in the Chapel

The children are taught who God is and the love of Jesus through Bible stories, music, games and crafts. We give them a snack and a drink and are happy to meet any dietary needs. Every Christmas KLASH leads a Sunday service and presents a nativity play. The Saturday before our nativity we have a dress rehearsal and Christmas party. At the end of June, we have a family picnic at Canty Bay.

TRASH (The Real Answers Start Here)

P5-P7 - meets in one of the rooms off the Chapel

This group is taught the Bible in more of a discussion/question and answer type format focused on what is means to follow Jesus in their daily lives. We have our own room with a sofa and bean bags and enjoy a fun and relaxed time together. Outings are organised a few times a year on a Sunday afternoon for an activity of their choosing. In the past we’ve gone to Foxlake, bowling, the trampoline park, Hillend, and Ratho.

All leaders and helpers are PVG’d by the Church of Scotland.

“Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts; let them proclaim your power.

I will meditate on your majestic, glorious splendour and your wonderful miracles. Your awe-inspiring deeds will be on every tongue; I will proclaim your greatness. Everyone will share the story of your wonderful goodness; they will sing with joy about your righteousness.”

(Psalm 145:4-7)

CRÈCHE

St. Andrew Blackadder is fortunate to have a very well equipped creche complete with baby changing facilities.

We welcome babies and small children up to the age of three. Parents are also welcome to join in the fun.

The creche is available for the duration of the 10.30am Family Service each Sunday.

YOUTH FELLOWSHIP

Youth Fellowship gives young people the chance to get to know God in a relevant, contemporary way. A variety of media is used and all are encouraged to participate in group discussions.

Members from Youth Fellowship lead worship on a Sunday occasionally throughout the year. This has proved to be a very rewarding experience for all.

The schedule for YF is quite varied with a group meeting the same time as KLASH on Sunday mornings and two different types of monthly get togethers

Once a year, there is an opportunity for our members to strengthen their Christian faith by joining their peers for a three-day long residential camp.

MESSY CHURCH

Messy Church is a form of church for children and adults that involves creativity, celebration and hospitality. It is primarily aimed at families who don’t tend to be part of other forms of church, and it takes place once a month on a Sunday between 4pm and 6pm. You can find out more about it here.
